Representing a landmark achievement in architectural design, the
Towers rise 44-stories—2.3 million square feet of prime office space—
to grace the skyline of Los Angeles’ exclusive Westside.
Designed by renowned architect Minoru Yamasaki, their distinctive triangular shape, gleaming in their
signature façade of aluminum, forms a commanding presence.
What most distinguishes Century Plaza Towers is one of the most prestigious tenant rosters in the country,
which includes some of America’s most prominent business leaders in professional services industries
such as – Entertainment, Law, Finance and Investment, New Technology and Communications.
And yet, as distinguished as the Towers have become, the renowned architectural firm
Keating Khang Architecture was retained to create an alluring and dynamic
new image for the landmark Century Plaza Towers – a distinguished classic in the city’s skyline.
The redesign and renovation of the Towers’ East entrances and West lobbies, a comprehensive elevator
modernization and a new grand valet area in the Carriage Lot were the primary focus of the enhancement and improvement project.
The capital improvement project comprised the renovation of the following:
Executive and Visitor Valet
The Carriage Lot has been transformed into the valet parking area for the Century Plaza Towers.
Extensive grading, landscaping and stone work has been completed to enhance the Towers’ front entrance.
Executive and Visitor Valet has been brought up from P1 and is now operated from the new valet area.
Of course, short term parking for bank customers and couriers will be available in valet.
Tower Lobbies
A sophisticated floor-to-ceiling Pilkington Glass curtain wall with a mullion-less system has been
installed reconfiguring and extending the building lobbies. This enhancement has created spectacular
views from the building entrances and valet through to the lushly landscaped centerpiece park.
Transformed into sophisticated environments that appeal to tenants, visitors and guests alike, the
expansive new lobbies offer improved pedestrian flow and access to the Towers across contemporary
black Mesabi granite that has replaced the white marble originally installed when the building opened.
Exterior Paving and Waterproofing
After all waterproofing material has been replaced. Attractive and sophisticated lithocrete and river
rock now spans the entire outdoor plaza around the Towers, from the Valet to the park. The river rock
will flow up to the base of the mullion-less Pilkington Glass curtain wall creating a wonderful synergy
with the park.
Security Consoles
The Security Consoles have been relocated and expanded to provide more efficient visitor access management
and to create an enhanced pedestrian flow and entry experience for tenants, visitors and guests.
Elevators
Complementing the comprehensive 52-elevator modernization, which included technology upgrades and the
addition of a second card reader in each cab, contemporary fixtures and finishes have been installed to
greatly enhance the aesthetics of the elevator interiors.
